Blue Zoo restaurant review

Updated: February 1, 2023

Recently we went to Blue Zoo to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. It’s located in Walt Disney World’s Dolphin Hotel. This restaurant is owned by Todd English, a renowned chef, author, TV star, who first started Olives restaurant in MA.
This restaurant has an underwater theme. Here are some photos of the inside:

The menu features a lot of seafood dishes, but they have chicken and steak. View menu

They don’t have a separate gluten free menu, but the staff is knowledgeable about the diet and can accommodate it.
One of their specials is 2 lb main lobster. It’s usually cooked in soy sauce, but they prepared it gluten free without the soy sauce. There was so much lobster in that dish, tasted amazing. They serve it with the head, if you don’t mind it, and stuff it with sticky rice.

They did have a gluten free bread. It was nice they had it, but we didn’t like the taste of it. There are a lot of gluten free bread choices in the market. I wasn’t sure what brand this was, but we didn’t care for it.

I ordered Simply fish. It’s a daily selection that can be prepared based on your preference. I can’t remember the name of the fish, but the waiter said it resembles grouper, mild and flaky. I chose a citrus sauce and warm crabmeat sauce. It was excellent.

The children’s menu has kid’s favorites from pastas to chicken nuggets.

My daughter had pasta, her favorite. And my other daughter had gluten free grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and broccolini. For dessert, the only gluten free option is sorbet trio. It was very tasty. The berry sorbet was our favorite.

The restaurant has an extensive wine list, and a beautiful lounge with a unique bar menu. They have iPads on the bar tables for ordering food.

If you are dining around 9pm, you can ask for a table by the window where you can see fireworks from Epcot.

I would recommend this restaurant for a special event. It offers fine dining with excellent service and a relaxed atmosphere.

Unfortunately, this restaurant has closed since I wrote this post. Cafe 118 is a vegan, raw, dairy free, all gluten free restaurant. The reason it’s 118 is because all the food is cooked under 118 degrees. Everything they serve there is made from nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables. They don’t use any grains, soy, beans,… [Read More]

Gluten Free Crepes

These crepes are made with Cup 4 Cup flour. This flour is sold in Williams-Sonoma, Fresh Market, or you can purchase it on Amazon at a lower price. They taste just as I remember crepes with gluten, or even better. No matter how many I make, they disappear quickly. Ingredients: 4 eggs 3/4 cup of… [Read More]

Gluten free in Las Vegas with the kids

This was first time for us in Vegas with the kids plus eating gluten free. We went during winter break, shortly before New Year’s.  We stayed at MGM Signature Towers. I found it to be reasonable compared to other hotel rates, plus all rooms were suites. Each suite had a microwave, refrigerator. One bedroom suites… [Read More]
